I took a walk a few days ago to play around with my new camera, and this was probably the best of the lot I took. I quite like it.

I'd have gone closer, much much closer... so that bascially all you had was trees and leaves all around a hole with a tractor it it. But that's just me. And I'd also have lightened it up a bit, givin' the colors a bit more punch, possibly.
Otherwise: YAY FOR DSLRS! ;D
As for lights, you're right, it's a bit dark. I should possibly not have done what little photoshopping I did, but that's an old habit from the crappy camera I had before, which tended to end up much better after adjustment in curves. So now I feel that if I don't do it, it's by definition not as good.
Anyways, I do think that tractor is permanently parked there, so I'll be trying your suggestion later on, and see how it works out. Thanks!
